Hot off a win in a shootout and with big ambitions come playoff time, the Patriots organization has reportedly begun taking steps to solidifying the team's areas of need after a game where several deficiencies were highlighted.

The Patriots receiving core is currently in flux, with Julian Edelman,Danny Amendola & Rob Gronkowski.getting most of the targets. Brady certainly has a lot to choose from on offense, however the Pats seemingly have little faith in keeping Josh Boyce as their number three option at WR as they recently signed veteran Lance Moore to give one of Drew Bree's ex-favorite targets a shot at making the roster after a down year led to his demise in New Orleans.

The honeymoon didn't go well as Moore had only one catch for 10 yards in a game where over 80 points were scored while Boyce was only marginally better adding one catch for 17 yards to his resume.

The Patriots are now focused heavily on WRs in the upcoming draft, looking to the future at the position as well as their present, according to sources. These soures close to the Patriots general manager also are claiming that the Patriots have sent out scouts to all of the other 31 teams in the league to assess potential trades targets. The Patriots general manager is also suggested to be seeing if there's any interest from another team to trade away talent at this position, with a focus on wide receivers who look to be up and coming on other teams, but lack the opportunity to flourish.

Given the Patriots' acquisition history in the wide receiver department, think Randy Moss, are looking for a receiver who can perform at a serviceable level now and can potentially be in the elite category in a few years of instruction by the coaching staff.,This means in identifying the target of the organization's endeavors is guaranteed to have eye popping measurables like speed, acceleration and size in his player profile. The Patriots current receiving corps is filled with sub-6'0" receivers since trading away Brandon LaFell, so one could also point to it being a big importance for the team to reload on this type of receiver.

Rumors are rumors, so we can never say for sure, but all signs point to this being a path the Patriots are taking so be on the lookout for some breaking news in Foxborough before the trading deadline hits the NFL.
